Good evening! I don’t usually forecast this far in advance, but, with the new tool of the blog, it’s a little easier! Things get buried pretty quickly on the Facebook group, so a long-range is not that useful.
True, “long range” in aurora forecasting is kind of impossible, as I am constantly telling you, but the one thing we CAN look at is the GOES satellite image showing coronal holes in the sun. There’s a pretty nice sized one right now, and it should be active through the coming week. Whether we see any coronal mass ejections out of it is to be determined, but, it is a bigger hole than the last time around, and the last time around, there was activity.
NOAA is really isn’t forecasting any activity on their three-day dashboard, but, the GOES picture does tell a tale of “Something could happen here.”
