Have you ever tried to figure out what’s going on with the SWPC (Space Weather Prediction Center) data at NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and gotten completely confused? Does UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) freak you out? Wondering what the heck the ACE/EPAM instrument is? Ever been to LaGrange 1? Or maybe you’re just trying to figure out how to get a compass app downloaded on your phone, figure out where the Big Dipper is, and get set up for Night Vision photography?
Lizzie Dickerson, your Space Weather Captain at the Maine Aurora Borealis Watch Weather Desk (that’s me) is teaching classes on precisely these topics!
This class will be a supportive place where all questions and confusion are honored, and all are welcome to participate. Anyone can jump in and learn something, no matter where you are on your space journey. The focus is fun, and and all attendees will leave with an expanded knowledge of how to read and use space weather forecasting tools.
The first class will be THIS WEDNESDAY, September 24, AT 6:30 PM, via ZOOM. Tuition is five dollars, and class will last an hour. We’ll try some different times for class, too, so if there’s a better time for you, please put that in the comments section of the sign-up form.
Once your payment is received, you will get an email containing the Zoom link for the class. It’s not an automated process yet, but you will get it.
Thank you for being the best part of the night sky!
